Shipping

Standard shipping is a flat $9.50 per order, however many pieces are in it.

It is free on orders of $150 or more. That threshold is measured on the merchandise total before tax and before shipping — the figure your bag shows before checkout adds anything to it.

Express shipping is $28.00 per order at any order value.

All rates and prices are in USD. Sales tax, where it applies, is calculated at checkout and shown in full before you pay.

There is no separate handling charge, no surcharge for a heavy piece, and no oversize fee. A 68 lb fire back ships on the same flat rate as a box of striker strips.

Standard: 4–7 business days after dispatch. Express: 2 business days after dispatch.

Orders placed before 1:00pm MT on a business day are dispatched the same day. Orders after that, and orders placed at a weekend or on a public holiday, go out on the next business day.

Delivery estimates are business days and do not include the day of dispatch. They are the carrier's estimates, not a guarantee — a storm across a hub moves them and nobody can promise otherwise.

We email a tracking number when the parcel is collected. If an estimate slips by more than two business days, email orders@summitflint.com and we will chase it with the carrier rather than making you do it.

The Cast Fire Back weighs 68 lb and the Log Rack weighs 31 lb and is 36 inches wide. Both ship freight, on a pallet, through a carrier that runs a lift-gate truck.

Freight is slower than parcel. Expect the carrier to call you to arrange a delivery window rather than simply turning up, and allow up to 10 business days from dispatch. Express shipping is not available on either piece; if you select it we will contact you and refund the difference.

Delivery is kerbside with a lift gate. The driver brings the pallet down to the ground and no further, so plan for two people to move a fire back from there — it is 68 lb of cast iron and there is no polite way to carry it alone.

Freight delivery is offered to the contiguous United States. If your address is outside that, email us before ordering either piece and we will quote the actual cost rather than guess at checkout.

Every parcel order ships with a tracking number from a carrier that provides online tracking and delivery confirmation. Freight orders ship with a pro number that tracks the same way.

You can check an order at any time from the order-status page using your order number and the email address you ordered with. No account and no password is needed.

We ship to addresses in the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and APO/FPO addresses, with the freight exception noted above.

We do not ship internationally. There is no checkout path that will accept an address outside the United States, and we cannot make an exception by email.

We cannot ship to a freight forwarder, and we cannot mark an order as a gift or understate its value on any carrier documentation.

These are household goods for domestic use in the United States. Because we ship domestically only, no export licence applies.

We do not sell or ship lamp oil, paraffin, fire starters or any flammable liquid. The brass lantern ships dry and empty; fuel is bought locally, and the product page names the only kinds that are safe in a flat-wick lamp.

The striker set contains a forged steel striker and knapped flint. Both are sharp, neither is a toy, and the product page says so. We will not ship it to an address where the order notes indicate it is a gift for a child.

Nothing in this catalog is an aerosol, a pressurised container or a restricted good, so no product here carries an air-carrier restriction.

Photograph the carton or pallet before you unpack any further, then photograph the piece itself, and email us the same day. Two photographs settle almost every case in one exchange.

We replace or refund, your choice. For parcel items we do not ask for the damaged piece back. For the two freight pieces we book a collection, because a cracked casting goes back to the foundry to be looked at.

On a freight delivery, note visible damage on the driver's paperwork before you sign. It is the single thing that makes a carrier claim quick.

We ship to the address you enter at checkout. Check it before you submit — once a parcel is with the carrier we cannot redirect it, and a freight pallet is harder still.
