The service life mark
How long it lasts
Blackened steel and solid brass, no moving parts. The finish softens with heat and handling — that is the finish working, not failing.
What wears first
Nothing that fails. The cup collects wax, which lifts out cold.
One turned piece each. There is nothing to come apart.
Replacement part
None stocked, because there is no part to replace — this piece has no consumable and nothing on it is fastened.
A service life figure is our estimate of how long this piece lasts in ordinary household use. It is not a warranty and not a guarantee of replacement — the warranty is stated separately in the terms. How the figure is arrived at is explained on service life.
What it is
A pair of turned steel holders for standard tapers, black-oxide finished, with bases heavy enough that a knocked candle stays put. Two heights — 6 and 9 inches — because a matched pair at the same height is a photograph and a mismatched pair is a mantel.
The cup takes a 7/8 inch taper, which is the common size. Wax lifts out in one piece if you let it go cold rather than digging at it warm.
What it is not for
- Candles are not included.
- Not for pillar or tea-light candles — the cup is cut for a taper only.
- Steel conducts heat. A candle burned to the base will make the holder hot.
- Not for unattended use.
