What wears first
The felt pads under the feet, which flatten and can be replaced.

What it is
A three-sided steel fender that sits on the hearth stone and marks the edge of it — a low kerb that keeps a rolled log, a dropped ember or a dog's tail on the right side of the line. 42 inches across the front, 5 inches tall.
This is a fender, not a guard. It contains what falls out at hearth level. It does not stop sparks, it is not a spark screen and it must not be relied on as one.
Welded at the corners rather than mitred and bolted, so there is nothing to work loose.
What it is not for
- NOT a spark guard and not a fireplace screen. It does not stop anything that leaves the fire above hearth level, and it is not a substitute for a screen.
- Not a child barrier. It is 5 inches tall and it is made of steel that gets warm.
- Requires a hearth stone at least 12 inches deep to sit on properly.
