The service life mark
How long it lasts
Cast iron and forged steel. Nothing in this band has a consumable part. Kept dry and re-seasoned when it asks for it, these outlive the house they were bought for.
What wears first
Nothing that fails. The lid knob is the only fastened part.
The stainless lid knob unscrews and replacements are stocked.
Replacement part
Stocked. Email support@summitflint.com with the stamp mark CI-02 and we will send you the part.
A service life figure is our estimate of how long this piece lasts in ordinary household use. It is not a warranty and not a guarantee of replacement — the warranty is stated separately in the terms. How the figure is arrived at is explained on service life.
What it is
A 5.5-quart enamelled cast-iron pot with a heavy lid, for the slow things a fire is good for. Straight-sided rather than rounded so it holds heat evenly at the base and stacks properly in a cupboard.
There is nothing novel about this object and we have not tried to make it novel. It is cast thick, enamelled well, and the knob is stainless rather than plastic so it can go in an oven at any temperature.
What it is not for
- Not for the microwave, and not for a broiler with the lid on.
- Not for direct flame contact in a hearth — this is oven and stovetop cookware.
- Do not heat it empty.

Wears first — Nothing. This is a single casting with no parts.

Cast Fire Back

Wears first — Nothing. A fire back is one casting and its whole job is to be the thing that takes the heat.
