What it is
A shovel with a pan deep enough to carry a full scoop without spilling it across the hearth on the way to the bucket — 5 inches wide with a 1-inch rolled lip on three sides. The rolled edge is what stops the sheet steel from developing a burr that catches on the stone.
Sized to hang with the rest of the set, and usable on its own.
What it is not for
- Not for live coals carried any distance — this is a hearth-to-bucket tool, and hot ash needs a metal bucket with a lid.
- Not for a closed wood stove.
